In the beginning, it seems like a temporary sacrifice. And you are willing to make it for more outstanding results. You want to become better, and your motivation is invincible.
But after a while, working a lot becomes the norm. So don't forget about taking breaks.
Your side hustle becomes your free time. And you don’t know how to stop thinking about it. That’s when you realize you might need a break.
Why does taking a break matter?
When I started writing online, I was excited and motivated. I could have written all day long without feeling exhausted or empty.
But my motivation dropped as my creative process stabilized, and I became better and more quality-focused.
At first, I thought I didn’t like writing as much as I imagined. So I abandoned it for a couple of months. But then I felt the need to write again. And I understood I haven’t left because of my lack of passion but because of a lack of breaks.
Taking a break is sometimes necessary, mainly if you work in the side hustle and content creation field where creativity means everything.
If you don’t take breaks:
you won’t have new ideas
your motivation will drop
and you will burn out.
But if you do, none of these things will happen. So if you haven’t taken a break in a while, here’s a 24-Hour Do Nothing Challenge.
The 24-Hour Do Nothing Challenge
I don’t think I have to explain this. But we need a few rules to define the success or failure of the challenge.
A 24-Hour Do Nothing Challenge is 24 hours where you take a break from everything related to your work and side hustle.
You must experience complete relaxation for one day. And you can’t even check the mail to see if any of your clients replied or those shenanigans.
Here is a list with all the rules:
Take a break from work/side hustle for 24 hours.
Don’t access any accounts related to your side hustle. Log out from any platform that might notify anything work-related to your phone.
Feel free to give up any routine, no matter how strict it is.
Don’t engage in activities that require a lot of brainpower, like reading.
Focus on having conversations and happy moments with friends and family.
When to take a 24-Hour Do Nothing Challenge?
If you have a side hustle, you can't expect to do a 24-Hour Do Nothing Challenge a week. You will always have to work on Saturdays and Sundays. Weekends might be your most productive days of the week.
But you could do it once a month – you can keep a day only for yourself and your pleasures.
Your stress will fade away, at least a little bit. And staying away from your side hustle will make you miss it. So when you get back to it, you will be more motivated, relaxed, and full of new ideas.
