The Power of Grit: How to Push Through When Others Quit
The Challenge Book Club #02 - Grit by Angela Duckworth
Back in the summer of 2023, I picked up Grit during my vacation.
I was on the stunning beaches of Lanzarote, but I never traveled without my Kobo. My girlfriend and I love to set aside time to read during our holidays and discuss what we’ve discovered. That summer, Grit was the book that sparked our conversations (or mine, at least. She reads her detective novels.)
I remember coming back from Lanzarote with a renewed sense of clarity. Duckworth’s book gave me the push to rebuild trust in my abilities. And, funnily enough, a random premium subscriber gave me the final nudge to start writing on Substack.
During that period, I made a decision: I wouldn’t give up on writing anymore. Since then, I’ve kept working on my craft, issue after issue.
There were challenging moments along the way. A few times, I missed a weekly issue due to illness or life getting in the way. But I never doubted that I'd reach my goal if I kept showing up and working on it. And the numbers I see today prove that (thanks to you!).
But what makes Grit so powerful? What ideas stuck with me the most?
Here’s what I learned — and why this book could change how you approach success.
(P.S. I also wrote an article about Grit back when The Challenge started. If you're interested, you can check it out here.)
